  • Jane Shryock She made a lot of great points. I think large dogs (ESPECIALLY pit bulls and the like) should just be banned from many parks, or at least certain areas of said parks. She is exactly right about children being afraid of those things and I wouldn't want them around my kids whether they are scared or not. Nor do I want to have to worry about stepping in a pile of dog shit while I'm on a walk; I'd say about eight times out of ten these people don't pick up after their animals, even if signs are posted stating it is required to do so. I am SO glad I live in a town with a pit bull ban in effect, especially since the town park is in my back yard and where my children play.

  • Susie Iwicki And everyone that actually KNEW me and KNEW my dogs, (pits) KNEW and trusted and SAW that they were raised well and socialized. Many of my friends' own children were socialized with them from the time we brought them home as puppies. Yet, 3 years into their lives, they STILL KILLED a child. They were "sweet" up until moments before. Dead is forever. Siegfried (sp?) and Roy raised their tigers and one of those tigers still mauled the literal hand that fed them. No one is accusing them of neglect or abuse of their tigers, though. Why? Because they are TIGERS. Predatory animals. Just the same as pit bull type dogs. GENETICS cannot be "loved' away. If they could, Dax would certainly be alive today. Period.

You would be the perfect person to inform people about your experience, to warn others and safe children from pit bulls.
