Chicago’s 2nd Ward Alderman Bob Fioretti is under the radar for Anti Pit Bull supporters lately. Alderman Fioretti is running for Mayor of Chicago. With an impressive resume you would think Fioretti is just what Chicago needs. Not according to Colleen and her Anti Pit Bull followers. Sure Alderman Fioretti was considered a possible BSL supporter, back in January 2012 after a man was attacked by two Pit Bulls. Fioretti claimed “it is time for the City Council again to consider banning the breed” (CBSChicago, 2012).
2012 wasn’t the first time Chicago toyed with the idea of BSL. So back in January 2012 Fioretti told the 2nd Ward “maybe it is something the city council should take a good hard look at,in terms of what’s happening in our neighborhoods and with the control of these type of animals,” (CBSChicago, 2012). So Fioretti in January 2012 introduced a resolution on Chicago’s dangerous dog ordinance during the city council’s first meeting of the year. Recommendations to reduce the number of animal attacks took in consideration from public and expert testimony provided by Chicago’s health protection, public safety and consumer protection committees. Alderman Fioretti wasn’t necessarily looking to enact a ban, just prevent dog attacks (My Fox Chicago, 2012).
So NOW fast forward 3 years where Dogsbite.org (DBO) is calling for Chicago to “spread the word” that Fioretti is looking at becoming the next Mayor of Chicago.
I guess Fioretti even though he is a “defender of civil rights and fighter for better neighborhoods” will now be known among the Anti Pit Bull Community as the “ANTI HUMAN CHUMP”
I guess being considered a “chump” now in the eyes of the ANTI Pit Bull community nullifies Fioretti’s record and achievements such as:
Respected civil rights lawyer, more than 500 civil rights cases
2009 Legislator of the year
2010-2012 Best Aldermanic Voting Record Award
Voted 2011 Defender of Public Schools by the teachers’ union
President of the Historic Pullman Foundation the Character and Fitness Committee of the Illinois Supreme Court and the Judicial Evaluation Committee of the Chicago Bar Association Executive Committee.
I think Chicago voters will find Alderman’ Fioretti’s track record and achievements the perfect candidate for Mayor. The comment from Lesley, ANTI Pit Bull supporter on Dogsbite.org Facebook page is just how these people operate. Doesn’t matter if someone is doing good for a city, town, or state. What matters to the ANTI Pit Bull community is that BSL is supported, Pit Bulls get banned. Never-mind that other breeds can bite, maul, or kill, just rid the world of Pit Bulls is the bottom line. I wish Alderman BoB Fioretti Good Luck, Colleen Lynn DOESN’T!
